Official Invitation of 21st Asian Physics Olympiad

Dear Participants

It is our great honor to host the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) for the third time. On behalf of the Academic Committee and Organizing Committee of the 21st Asian Physics Olympiad, we welcome TEAM NAME to participate in the 21st Asian Physics Olympiad.

The 21st Asian Physics Olympiad has 26 Teams registered and approximately 200 students participating in the competition online. It is the first time the Asian Physics Olympiad is held online due to Coronavirus pandemics. Although the spreading of Coronavirus is well controlled in Taiwan, traveling among countries is still a risk due to the global pandemics. Consequently, the first online competition of the Asian Physics Olympiad will be held in Taipei from May 17th to 24th, 2021. We are pleased to have many Asian countries participate in this historic event.

The 21st Asian Physics Olympiad is organized by National Taiwan Normal University and is financially supported by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science and Technology. The Asian Physics Olympiad is a platform for exchanging the experience in science education among the Asian countries; a platform to enjoy the excitement of different cultures. It is also a stage for young students to challenge themselves and gain the friendship with foreign people. The Asian Physics Olympiad has built an Asian community for youngsters and educators, and we are delighted that Taiwan is part of the APhO community.

Though Coronavirus kept the 21st APhO postponed for one year, we believe a pleasant future ahead of us.

Sincerely Yours

Minister: Dr. Wen-Chung Pan

Minister: Dr. Tsung-Tsong Wu

Welcome message from Honorable Chair of the 21st Asian Physics Olympiad
The President of National Taiwan Normal University

Dear Leaders and Contestants

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 21st Asian Physics Olympiad , I am honored to welcome you to the 21st APhO.

This APhO was planned to be held in 2020 but postponed to 2021due to the Covid-19 pandemics. Although the Coronavirus is very much under control in Taiwan, the online competition of the 21st Physic Olympiad is still a safer option to proceed with. I believe it will be a great challenge for all leaders, contestants and the Organizing Committee. I, however, am very confident that this competition will be as successful as before and perhaps create a new modality for future competitions. I have high hope on every one of you. The International Science Olympiad competitions are vital to the overall development of human beings. This is the place where tomorrow’s greatest science talents meet and share their insights and experience. The International Science Olympiad competitions is the incubator where we breed the next big breakthrough in science. National Taiwan Normal University was founded almost 100 years ago on a similar mission: To cultivate teachers so they can guide young talents to realize their full potential. I am proud to say that our University has a long history of remarkable achievements in science education and research. We are also a leader in the cultivation of scientific talents in Taiwan.

NTNU is a strong support and a member of the International Science Olympiad community. In addition to this event, we have hosted several international Olympia competitions in mathematics, physics and chemistry, earth science, biology, informatics and one International Junior Science Olympiad. Over the years, thousands of talented students all over the world have visited our campus, and we are proud to be able to work with these wonderful students in facilitating their quest into the world of science.

I look forward to your participation in the first online Asian Physics Olympiad. I wish this Olympiad a great success, all of you a memorable experience in the competition and good luck to all the constants.
